Jen Schroeder built her line around the two things that go wrong when a fastpitch catcher wears baseball gear. First, the chest protector. The Very Best uses a two-piece design with narrowed shoulders and a slimmer ab panel, so it sits under the chest rather than over it. Also, the abs carry a silicone grip that kills the spin on a blocked ball. Second, the knees. Fastpitch catchers throw from their knees more than baseball catchers do, and the IKP+ inner-knee padding is there for exactly that bruise. Our 2024 review praised the front-connecting straps and the motivational lines printed inside the protector, and both are still there. The one gap is the listing: Easton states NOCSAE for the helmet but says nothing about the chest protector’s certification.
