Baseball Teams in Florida

Baseball in Florida goes way back with roots reaching to the 19th century. The state hosted a number of pre-season camps in the late 1800s, and the first official spring training was held in Florida in 1913.

Much of baseball's longtime presence in the state is due to its setting: Florida has year-round warm weather and it's conveniently located on the eastern seaboard.

Combining these factors with the large population in the state, Florida has become a mecca of sorts for the national pastime.

In this article, we drill down to showcase baseball across the state.

Specifically, we identify all of the baseball teams in Florida that play professionally and we provide key details about each team.

Independent Professional Baseball Teams in Florida (as of 2022)

Many states have teams that play in the independent leagues, which is professional baseball not associated with the MLB.

Interestingly, there are no independent league baseball teams based in Florida.

Baseball Teams in Orlando

Orlando is one of the largest cities in Florida. However, there are no professional baseball teams located in the city - including both MLB and MiLB teams.

That doesn't mean there is no high-quality baseball being played in the Orlando area.

For example, Orlando is home to two NCAA baseball programs.

The most notable program is the University of Central Florida (UCF) Knights. UCF plays division 1 (DI) baseball out of John Euliano Park, which is located northeast of downtown Orlando.

Rollins College also has a program, and they play division 2 (DII) baseball at Alfond Stadium located in nearby Winter Park.

See below for the custom map we created just for this article. It shows the general location where each college baseball team in the Orlando area is located.

That's a Wrap!
