Easton sells six set lines in 2026: two fastpitch lines under the Jen Schro name, then Mav X, Phenom, Elite X and Black Magic for baseball. Prices are the lower of Play Baseball’s and Amazon’s at the last daily refresh. Amazon carried only the two Jen Schro sets when we checked, though. A set with no stock shows an out-of-stock label rather than a dead link. That is also why the Phenom row looked thin on September 3, 2026. The certification column quotes each listing as written. So “not stated” means the retailer copy is silent, not that the set failed anything.

Jen Schroeder designed her line around the two places baseball gear fails a fastpitch catcher: the chest and the knees. So the protector is a two-piece build with narrowed shoulders and a slimmer ab panel that sits under the chest. A silicone grip then kills the spin on a blocked ball. Then the leg guards carry IKP+ inner-knee padding, because fastpitch catchers throw from their knees far more often. The Fundamental is the entry rung on the same platform, while Amazon lists the current version as the Fundamental 2.0. Easton publishes almost nothing about it, so treat it as the Jen Schro cut in plainer materials. One gap on both, though: the listings state NOCSAE for the helmet only. Also, its wide-set knee gives a young blocker more surface in the dirt. The three tiers share the platform, so a program can outfit an 11-year-old and a 17-year-old in matching gear. The American Classic edition is the same set in a red, white and light blue colorway with a Delta-Flex harness. It was also the only Phenom in stock at Play Baseball on September 3, 2026. Its listing states no certification, though. So it is a colorway choice rather than a safety upgrade. Sizing follows the usual measurements.

The Black Magic name has been Easton’s youth set for years. The 3.0 also keeps the two youth sizes that matter, a medium for ages 6 to 9 and a large for 9 to 12. Beyond that, the listing is marketing rather than specification, and it states no certification. That is why the rating sits where it does. For a catcher under 12, the Rawlings Players 3 Series and the All-Star Top Star publish more. So the youth gear collection lines them up.

Easton Prowess: discontinued, and what replaced it

This page began life in 2018 as a review of the Easton Prowess line. Easton launched it in September 2017 as its first female-specific fastpitch gear. There were three lines. Prowess itself was sold as separate pieces in adult and intermediate sizes. The P2 was a box set for ages 11 to 13. Meanwhile, the QwikFit was a box set for ages 9 to 12 built so a young catcher could gear up without help, with clip-on leg guards and pulley adjusters. What made Prowess good was the chest protector. It was a Torso Flex two-piece design with a four-point harness and a BioDri liner, 15.5 inches in adult and 14 in intermediate. The helmet was a NOCSAE ABS shell with EVA foam in two sizes, while the leg guards wrapped the calf with generous knee padding.

Easton then retired the line and folded its ideas into the Jen Schro collection. That is why The Very Best has a two-piece protector and knee-first leg guards. Neither retailer we track carried a Prowess piece in 2026, either. So if you own Prowess gear, keep wearing it. Replace the helmet when its NOCSAE date lapses, then buy the Jen Schro set when the time comes.

Easton mitts: the one piece not in the box
